DHEA & Pregnenolone: The Youthful Buffers & Cortisol Antagonists
If cortisol is the bodyâs catabolic sword, swung in times of crisis to break down tissue for fuel, then pregnenolone and its downstream metabolites are the anabolic shield. These are the "youthful buffers," the protective hormones that stand in direct opposition to the destructive cascade of stress.
Pregnenolone is the great matriarch, the "mother hormone" from which virtually all other steroid hormones are born.
